The amazingly young (only 18 months old) ‘The Ski Channel’ just signed a long-term deal with Comcast On Demand that will bring skiing and adventure sports into 43 million American homes.

The real beauty of this release, beyond enjoying High-Definition Warren Miller with your hand in a Cheetos bag, is the original content that the network has already begun along with a National film tour in the Fall. The aforementioned Warren Miller films will be available, as well as Greg Stump movies, destination and travel content, and the usual array of how-to instructional stuff.

But even more exciting tidbits, no matter your discipline, includes The Story–a must-watch trailer–that follows passionate skiers from the mainstream stars such as Lindsey Vonn and Bode Miller to unknown ski bums and their pursuit of carpe diem. The trailer impresses with quality and a refreshing focus on life rather than the usual adrenaline aggro-fest.

There is also a full-length documentary on the 80′s cult-hero Bill Johnson in all his glory and toil that also exposes the human side of the sport and why we do it.

This is all good stuff for the ski industry in general as now we are valid. The next step is to get Glen Plake on Dancing With the Stars.
