Bike Season Has Officially Arrived!

Hi Skiers and Bikers!

It feels like summer has arrived in Stowe, VT today, with temperatures flirting with 80 and bountiful sunshine all day.  We have some exciting happenings at Skiershop this summer and we thought it would be a good time to fill you in on what’s new.

As usual, we’ve been putting together a good amount of custom mountain bike build, many of which from one of our favorite brands, Intense Cycles.  Our head mechanic just finished building a custom Intense Tracer 2 to be used as a DH bike for a very, very lucky 12 year old.  No, that’s not a typo, this beautiful machine is going to someone 12 years old.

Bos Suspension, Hope Components, Shimano Drivetrain, Mavic Wheels help make up this one of a kind build.

You can find even more photos on our facebook page, but check out some of our favorite bits of this stunning bike below:

We’ve also got some exciting events happening this summer, so keep an eye out for details.  The month of June is going to be packed full of mountain bike events.  Will you be attending NEMBA Festival at the infamous Kingdom Trails?  You can bet Skiershop will be there testing bikes, snapping photos, and kicking back in our tent!  ***Local Advice*** Keep the next weekends schedule open as well.  A brand new, weekend long event will be kicking off here in Stowe, and you don’t want to miss it.  More details will be released soon, but let’s just say you’ll be enjoying some of the state’s finest riding, food, music, and beverages!

Skiershop also has a brand new MTB demo/rental fleet with new models from Intense, Giant, and Rocky Mountain!  We couldn’t be more excited about the bikes we have available to take out on our local trails this summer.  Because we want everyone to enjoy what we have available, we’ll be offering multiple free demo weekends, so keep checking back for dates.  There’s a good chance if you attend the weekend MTB event in Stowe towards the end of the month, you’ll get the chance to ride any of our demo bikes for free.

As always, give us a call with any questions, concerns, discussion topics, or anything else you could possibly feel like talking to us about.

See you on the trails!

Located in the heart of Stowe Village, Cady Hill Forest has been providing mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing for years. However, its delicate permitting doesn’t guarantee that it will always be available for recreation.

Mike Thomas of enjoying Cady Hill Forest and the town loops

The Cady Hill Forest conservation project would allow the Stowe Land Trust to purchase and permanently conserve over 260 acres of land that holds an 11-mile network of trails, beloved by local mountain bike riders, and also hosts prime deer wintering habitat along with other scenic vistas.

With an additional $450,000 needed by May 30, 2012, isn’t just hoping for someone with a big check to save the day. Rather is donating 10% of the profits from all mountain bike sales to assist in the endeavor.

The town of Stowe, VT and headquarters are recently coming off a memorable March, only this one is a memory the town and ski community are hoping to forget. A March devoid of snow and full of 70 degree days wreaked havoc on an already thin snowpack. The last thing the town needs is for it to lose it’s in-town mountain bike loop, an easy access trail for those who work nearby, and also an integral part of the Vermont Ride Center, a program that is being pursued by the Vermont Mountain Bike Association.

Words: Erme Catino

Our friend Andrew Whiteford just dropped this mountain bike edit on a recent trip to Utah, and since Jay Peak Resort shut its doors yesterday – the last resort standing in the East, we figured the Skiershop blog needed some summer love.

Lastly, Skiershop is holding a special through May on the new Intense Demo Bikes.  So head over to Stowe, VT and take them for a spin, some of the trails have already been riding well.
