Skiershop.com and the Stowe Land Trust, a local organization dedicated to the conservation of scenic, recreational, and productive farm and forestlands for the benefit of the greater Stowe community have aligned to help raise funds for a local conservation effort.
Located in the heart of Stowe Village, Cady Hill Forest has been providing mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing for years. However, its delicate permitting doesn’t guarantee that it will always be available for recreation.
The Cady Hill Forest conservation project would allow the Stowe Land Trust to purchase and permanently conserve over 260 acres of land that holds an 11-mile network of trails, beloved by local mountain bike riders, and also hosts prime deer wintering habitat along with other scenic vistas.
With an additional $450,000 needed by May 30, 2012, Skiershop.com isn’t just hoping for someone with a big check to save the day. Rather Skiershop.com is donating 10% of the profits from all mountain bike sales to assist in the endeavor.
The town of Stowe, VT and Skiershop.com headquarters are recently coming off a memorable March, only this one is a memory the town and ski community are hoping to forget. A March devoid of snow and full of 70 degree days wreaked havoc on an already thin snowpack. The last thing the town needs is for it to lose it’s in-town mountain bike loop, an easy access trail for those who work nearby, and also an integral part of the Vermont Ride Center, a program that is being pursued by the Vermont Mountain Bike Association.

Skiershop.com is proud to be a supporter of this weekend’s Vermont Mountain Bike Festival! The festival will be taking place this weekend, July 16th and 17th in Waterbury, VT, and will be featuring a ton of activities, live music, and food.

It should be a great weekend, see you up here!
Last week the BikeStowe crew headed to Sugarbush Ski Resort to sample some of their lift serviced mountain biking. In case you missed it, here’s a quick shot and link to their trip report: Lift service riding at The Bush. – Erme

This past summer Skiershop.com launched BikeStowe.com. BikeStowe is Raise The Bar’s summer fling, and has all the information you need regarding biking in Stowe, VT and beyond. Here is BikeStowe’s June edit (shot entirely with a GoPro HD) featuring some of the local mountain biking spots. Hope everyone is having a great summer!
We all know ski resorts out west have been dodging spring and summer, though it seems that Andrew Whiteford has been happily mixing the two. Here’s Whiteford’s latest bike edit… enjoy and have a great weekend! – Erme

Our friend Andrew Whiteford just dropped this mountain bike edit on a recent trip to Utah, and since Jay Peak Resort shut its doors yesterday – the last resort standing in the East, we figured the Skiershop blog needed some summer love.
Lastly, Skiershop is holding a special through May on the new Intense Demo Bikes. So head over to Stowe, VT and take them for a spin, some of the trails have already been riding well.
