It has been a busy past few weeks of traveling, snowstorms, and then meltdowns… Through it all the Skiershop Team has been absolutely crushing it and having a blast at the same time. Here’s a quick recap on what has been going down – we at Skiershop couldn’t be prouder of our riders this season!
Our dynamic female duo of Louise Lintilhac and Ashley Maxfield took their skills to the Subaru North American Freeskiing Championships in Snowbird, Utah. Ashley took home 7th place, and unfortunately Weeze took home a black eye. The pictures looked scary, and we are glad that she is ok. Next up is Kirkwood, beginning April 4, 2012.
On the jib side, Tyler Duncan and Will Hibbs recently returned from the Dumont Cup at Sunday River, ME where they both made the semi-finals – yeah boys!
On the local level. Skiershop Riders Noah Ranallo and Colby Vavolotis continued to dominate the Ski The East Freeride Tour. Following the tour’s final stop at Jay Peak, VT, Valvolotis emerged victourous as the tour winner. For Ranallo, the Jay Peak competition marked the second time he won the Cliff Huckstable Big Air Award – Congrats boys!

Editors Note: Skiershop Team Rider Adam Mikaelian and Send It Studios have arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, until a few days ago winter was still late to the party. That all changed this past weekend when Snowbird finally received a fresh nine inches of fluff. It was enough to cover the rocks for a short period and allowed the boys to slay some powder. They also found time in the dry spell to create a hilarious intro… – Erme Catino

Within the past 48 hours Alta/Bird has received over 2 feet of snow, and that was when I was writing this post, around 3 P.M. EST. That is a heck of a lot of snow for May 19th, and with forecasts of a storm totaling around 25-35”, there is going to be some deep submarining going on this morning. Just looking at the weather is making me get into a powder frenzy, and I’m sitting here in Vermont.
Snowbird is the only resort left operating in Utah, and with the magnitude of this storm, they have their work cut out for them. This was posted on the Snowbird site yesterday: Snowbird has received more than 30″ of snow this week. Due to the unusual amount of spring snow and the forecast for continuing precipitation, hours of operation and available terrain for Friday, 5/20, are TBD. Depending on the overnight snowfall, if Snowbird is able to open for skiing and riding Friday the terrain will be limited. This report will be updated when new info is available.
Here’s to all the folks shredding pow today in Utah and other parts of the West, the endless season continues for you guys…Get Some!
Lastly, here is a video courtesy of Unofficial Networks from May 18th. Patsy was looking tasty…can’t wait to get back out there for an extended period again next winter!

Vermont has been a bit rainy the past few days, so to cure our rainy day hangover here is a little edit from the JFT World Junior Championships in Snowbird, UT.
Utah has been getting absolutely pummeled the past few weeks – heck they’ve been trying to dig out since February. April has already left six feet of powder at Alta/Bird, and with a storm looming tonight they might reach the 200 inch base milestone!
Enjoy the video and congrats to the all the juniors who were throwing down this past weekend. Utah looks like it will be going off this spring; the question is will you be there for one more powder fix…

The Red Bull Cold Rush is about to go down in Silverton, CO. This unique invite only athlete judged event is hands down one of the raddest contests and is a display of freeskiing in it’s truest form.
This year 13 athletes will be competing (11 Men – Sean Pettit, Dash Longe, Sage, Sammy Carlson, Dane Tudor, Josh Bibby, Blake Nyman, Rory Bushfield, Kye Peterson, Logan Pehota, and Richard Permin and 2 Women – Suz Grahm and Grete Eliassen). With a stacked athlete list and incredible terrain, we should see some amazing runs.

Lastly, this past weekend wrapped up the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour in Snowbird, UT. Peep the Top 3 Finals Men’s runs including Sage Cattabriga-Alosa’s highest scored run of the day.
